Greetings RVers,
What a Rally! Nine first-time rally couples, tough to control, but a great fit in our Club, made for an outstanding weekend at Burnaby Cariboo R.V. Park, May 1st to 3rd.
Friday evening Wine & Cheese get-together, or as I see it our meet-and-greet social hours, included a 50/50 draw. We saw Maggie Wilson take her winnings and vanish into the moonlight. I think Rob, her husband, was chasing her. The Saturday evening 50/50 was won by Laurie Beaulieu and he refused to share it, with me that is, but I'm sure he took his wife out on the town. Laurie also won the attendance draw, and R.V. mat donated by Get-Away R.V. in Abbotsford.
Sunday Rally windup 50/50 draw saw Barrie Clark run off with a bag of money. He too refused to share and he is now off of my Christmas list! We had a quiz won by a First Time Rally Goer, Cindy Croft. Great job Cindy!
Harriet, the manager of Burnaby Cariboo R.V. Park, outdid herself by arranging prizes for the many draws we had over the weekend. Following are some of the prize donations received: Harbour Cruises, Bowen Island Express, Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Hell's Gate Airtram, Minter Gardens, Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver Aquarium, Horizons Salmon House Restaurant, Imax Theatre, Vancouver Lookout, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and Burnaby Village Museum.
Free camping donated by some of our sponsors, included: Salem Campground & R.V. Park in Oregon, Prairie Breeze Inn R.V. & Camping in Alberta, Cariboo Joy R.V. Park in Wells B.C., and Gold Mountain R.V. Park in Hedley B.C.
Congratulations to the winners of these fantastic prizes.
Much fun was had at the Saturday evening Bingo game, with the winners collecting a nice prize along with $10 cash.
Early Saturday afternoon the highly competitive annual Bean Bag Baseball game was held, winding up just before the drizzle or was that rain? In the upstairs lounge a Crib Tournament took place for the first time, and of course our nature walk with Barbara Tilley was well attended and she also managed to avoid the showers.
The Magic performed by the 1st Vice President, Don Smith and Kim, his wife, was a fantastic club/crowd pleaser. Don also did a marelous job arranging catering and setup. Kim was not only responsible for those great nametags, but she also kept Don in line and on time. Good job Kim!
I thank all the executive members for the tremendous work done, and also the spoused for I know they too were involved.
Once again we cannot thank Harriet enough for an outstanding job well done and a scrumptious continental breakfast Sunday morning. Harriet you are the best!
I hope you enjoy the summer, and take care along the way.
