Viewing: September 2009

Greetings RVers,

I trust one and all had a safe and enjoyable summer of lying around, doing some work, traveling to new and familiar places, or whatever was fun for you.

Well I know it's been awhile since our Rally at Fort Langley but nevertheless it cannot go without mention. We had a catered meal on Saturday night with some folks needing a doggybag as half a 25lb chicken, (OK not 25 lbs. but one huge chicken) and trimmings were served to the hungry crowd. This year we were able to have use of the group camping shelter and fire pit, enabling all of us to be seated together. Very, very nice. Our thanks to the staff in Fort Camping on Brae Island Regional Park, which is a short walk to historic Fort Langley. As this was a so-called limited executive involvement Rally, I commandeered Jeff Martin, our resident Fire Marshall, to take charge of our campfire. A finer job could not have been done. He also managed to get paid for his efforts by winning the 50/50 draw. Of course he bought 95% of the tickets, so I guess he was up 2-1/2 %. Nicely done Jeff.

As you may or may not know, I have been trying to arrange an outing in Osoyoos. Up-date: The person who was getting things in place for our arrival is no longer with the campground. So, at the time of this printing it's a NO GO for this year. None-the-less we will persevere and see if we can do something for next year. Don't forget our wind-up Rally at the Burnaby Cariboo RV Park in Burnaby this October 2nd-4th.

By the way, all those booked for the Bridal Falls Rally on September 11th - 13th, please bring a bathing suit so you can enjoy the Pool & Hot-Tub; plus bring a cake for the cakewalk and boots for hiking to the falls if you so desire that is.

It's time again for the Abbotsford Snowbird RV Show happening Sept. 24-27, (see their ad on page 20 of the RV Times Magazine) in the Tradex buildings at the Abbotsford Airport and if you can help out we are seeking volunteers for manning the booth. Please send us an e-mail or phone Jan Clark or myself Bill Wright. The shifts are 3-4 hours.

Please make a note on your calendar to attend our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING to be held Saturday OCTOBER 17 at 10:30am at Traveland RV Supercentre, 20529 Langley Bypass.

Show your support for your Executive, plus your appreciation to Traveland and staff, by attending the AGM. This is the time when you can toss your name in for any position on the Executive; positions running for a one-year term. The  Election Committee consists of Barrie Clark (604-466-5432) and Barbara Tilley (604-538-3457)

We are sincerely grateful to Traveland for providing their facility for this AGM meeting along with an informative seminar and a scrumptious lunch.
